Big Book of Nasties-AGE: Mothman

The Mothmen are monstrous creatures, some believe children of a long forgotten god that has abandoned Earth. They resemble humanoid moths. Well, they appear to be creatures with insect-like wings, four sets of legs that dangle from a too-thin torso and main body, with spindly arms that end in wicked claws. Their heads have large solid black eyes, antennae, and mandibles.

When they land, they alight on four feet that have hooks that allow them to grip almost any surface. In fact, they rarely walk anywhere. Most notice them by their musk before they are visible flying or walking through the brush.

Eternal Shadows:
Mothmen, or mothfolk, are creatures that arrived on Earth several decades ago. They originate on another world, and the theory is that these beings used magic to cross the gulf between our two worlds, but only the Mothmen know, and they rarely communicate with humans. Given the level of technology available to other races, it is possible that they enacted a great ritual, or that they physically crossed space. On Earth they seem driven to acquire resources while maintaining secrecy. In rare instances, they will kidnap people for their own unknown ends.

Those who succeed suffer a -1 penalty on all actions for the remainder of the scene, but can remain in the presence of the creature. Those who fail suffer a -2 penalty on all actions for the remainder of the scene as the musk overwhelms their senses.
Wall Clinging: a mothman’s clawed toes can grip any surface, even hanging upside down if so desired. This provides it a +3 bonus to hang on to objects, surfaces and people and +1 on Strength (Climbing) tests.

I've been an avid fan of fantasy and science fiction novels, comic books, pen and paper role-playing games, computer games and console video games for the last two decades. My dream would be to one day make a comfortable living while having the time to pursue writing (novels, rpgs, etc.) as a full-time hobby.
